with toxic pesticide residues. Pesticides have powerful abilities to kill or reduce the reproductive abilities of pests and other living things (leading to infertility) and they are shown to linger in the environment for many decades even after it’s been banned (such as DDT residues - which are still detectable today). The costs to our health and our environment could be immense.

Some crops such as strawberries absorb the pesticide that's sprayed on, which means washing them (even in soapy water) cannot remove the pesticide residues. Studies have shown that over 90% of U.S. children have detectable levels of pesticide residues in their urine. As for adults, the residue levels could be even more significant as adults have more body fat (some pesticides are fat-soluble, meaning they store themselves in our fatty tissues).
